** DIFFERENT LOCATION ** We are temporarily moving out of Guthrie's (for the last time!) because of conflicting schedules with Cubs games down the street at Wrigley Field. Sorry I'm posting this meetup so late - I was investigating some new locations, but none of them worked out. We will be back at Guthrie's after this last Cubs game.
Mercury Cafe is a HUGE coffee and sandwich shop near the Chicago Ave. Blue line and I-90/94. You can take a look at their menu (coffee, sandwiches, ice cream, bakery goods, etc) and webpage here:

We play various strategy boardgames, also called "Eurogames" or "designer games". If you aren't familiar with that terminology, you may recognize a few of the most popular titles, like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Agricola, Ra, and Race for the Galaxy. As quoted on Wikipedia, Eurogames are "usually less abstract than chess, but more abstract than wargames. Likewise, they generally require more thought and planning than party games, such as Pictionary or Trivial Pursuit, but less than strategy games, such as chess and Go".
If you have a specific game you wish to play, bring it along. Otherwise, you'll likely have a broad choice of games to learn and play because several members usually bring lots of different types of games ranging from "light and frothy" to "heavy and thoughtful", with many choices in between. Most members are very happy to teach you any game you want to learn.
